What people weigh has a lot to do with DNA. I've dating really skinny girls that are loads of chocolate and did no exercise other than sex.

I used work really hard on dieting and running about 50k a work and walking an average of 17k steps on the days I didn't run and wasn't as skinny as them.

Other people aren't genetically built to react to sugar like others.

If you're skinny it's mostly because you were born lucky to be natural skinny, to have small appetite and/or not enjoy sweet things.

Processed junk-foods and fast-foods and sedentary lifestyles has far more to do with the developed world's obesity and public health crises than genetics—which has far more to do with inherited bad habits than chromosomes. There are exceptions to rules, like "some people" who "aren't genetically built to react to sugar like others," or type 1 diabetics, who makeup ~5-10% of all diabetics. The other ~90-95% of diabetics are type 2, caused by unhealthy lifestyles and being overweight and out of shape.
